Procrastination?

Life has its cycles. Everything in this world has done to move without rest. Nothing is quiet or disappear but it is constantly involved in a transformation process. We are limited, we need to rest to recover the energy we have been using during the day, we need to be repaired. But even when we are sleeping we are moving in a certain way: our internal processes never stop, this is only possible when we die.

Sometimes we stop doing things that we love to spend time in other activities, not always more fun or enjoyable, it is not that at all, it's just because we are moving in spirit to go in another direction. Probably that kind of experience is closer to free spirits, needing full engagement of the heart, mind, and hands, and mostly occurs when you are not strictly attached by contracts. Such are artisans. They have many projects at a time and their inner soul, the inspiration, says to them what are they going to work on each day.

Some projects are taking apart for no reason, you think you have the eternity to finish them, but as our daily time is limited, our lives are too. It isn't irresponsible nor procrastination. Making decisions is not easy and is what we do every minute, it is part of the movement. But we must have an anchor, a main objective in our lives that fulfill it and serve us as a guide to know what to do and where to go. You can sail wherever you want but knowing that your passion is sailing.

I haven't finished yet the last blanket I must knit for this winter and it is getting over. I like enjoying the road as it is, discovers new hidden places, and taking time to contemplate them; without this peaceful moment, our journey is not complete, you not only want to get to a certain place but also be happy while you are traveling. Stop working on a piece it doesn't mean you don't like what you are doing but you need time to do it better because when we're looking at a piece for a long time you get tired and you can't find the possible mistakes you did or figure out if it can be improved; it is good to let it rests while you are getting new and better ideas to transform it. Live and enjoy the cycles.

A cat called Tino.

I love to have some stories to tell you related to the pieces I sell. This is about a quilt. I sewed it with so much love, as it was destined for someone special. This one was made for an unknown cat. When the quilt was done, something was missing, a touch of fun! So I thought about what cats like to play with... of course, balls. I found two colorful balls of yarn that matched with the rest of the colors and I sewed them in a way the cat can play.           The quilt was kept into a wardrove for months until the day I heard an old man talking to a lady about his cat, Tino. He liked to play with the pigeons that perched on the window, but one day, he wanted to go farther and fell down on the pavement. The old man believed Tino was dead. When he got closer, he noticed the cat was breathing but he couldn't move. He took it to the vet, and after 15 minutes, the vet said to him that Tino broke one of his legs, he needed surge...

Leftovers

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a leftover is something that remains unused or unconsumed; it is a residue. I'm not here to do the work of a dictionary but to call the attention about the form we usually consume. We think we never have enough so It is easy to grab more than we really need. I don't know the reason but we've learned to live with an expectation of scarcity. It wouldn't be a problem if we accept to consume what we get, but we don't, so the leftovers end into the trash can. It is easy to throw everything away and forget about what it is going to be. The problem is that this behavior is causing a big problem to our planet in terms of contamination of the soil, air and water. We can take two little steps to solve this big problem: reducing the quantity we consume to adjust it to what we really need, and recycling all that is recyclable.  When I'm working on my pieces, I put the leftovers into a bag, and later, I try to think about ho...

Old things, new beginnings

We started this month with great enthusiasm and creativity. We have finished a new model combining blue jeans, cotton and a touch of pink wool. While making it, I was surprised about how a touch of a bright color can give joy to the dark ones. Such is life! This pink flowers are like a hug, a smile, or maybe music we like to hear. Let's open our hearts to recieve all the gifts that are like  rain to the plants, something good and refreshing. I like sewing quilts with recycled materials because it joins things that were once separated and useless, giving them another sense, creating something new; cutting and discarding what is totally destroyed, letting them go. Look what  a pair of blue jeans and a t-shirt you don't want to use any more can become.  January is the month of hope and new beginnings!
