Reading the friendship

Things happen ahead of your expectations. I use to meet a group of friends once a week to share our lives, hot chocolate in winter, and a cake on each birthday. I felt so thankful, that I wanted to give all of them something personal and nice. I didn't have enough money to buy such things, so I decided to do an inventory of the materials I have at home and see If  I can do something with them. Many ideas came up, but the one that hit my heart was to make personalized bookmarks stitch-crossing the letter of their names. I put on all my creativity on work mixing it with my best feelings. I had to buy some other materials to add the final touches.

They were surprised as well as thankful for the detail. But I got more than kind words and smiling faces.

Valuing people around you brings rewards. You are not expected to receive more than affection when you really love them, things come naturally. "What you give is what you get", that is the Golden Rule. So my friends started to order some of those bookmarks for their friends and families, to give them something that they considered special to show how much they matter. If you have beautiful feelings inside, all you do will be touched with them, the hands are good translators of what is hidden in your soul.

A cat called Tino.

I love to have some stories to tell you related to the pieces I sell. This is about a quilt. I sewed it with so much love, as it was destined for someone special. This one was made for an unknown cat. When the quilt was done, something was missing, a touch of fun! So I thought about what cats like to play with... of course, balls. I found two colorful balls of yarn that matched with the rest of the colors and I sewed them in a way the cat can play.           The quilt was kept into a wardrove for months until the day I heard an old man talking to a lady about his cat, Tino. He liked to play with the pigeons that perched on the window, but one day, he wanted to go farther and fell down on the pavement. The old man believed Tino was dead. When he got closer, he noticed the cat was breathing but he couldn't move. He took it to the vet, and after 15 minutes, the vet said to him that Tino broke one of his legs, he needed surge...

Leftovers

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a leftover is something that remains unused or unconsumed; it is a residue. I'm not here to do the work of a dictionary but to call the attention about the form we usually consume. We think we never have enough so It is easy to grab more than we really need. I don't know the reason but we've learned to live with an expectation of scarcity. It wouldn't be a problem if we accept to consume what we get, but we don't, so the leftovers end into the trash can. It is easy to throw everything away and forget about what it is going to be. The problem is that this behavior is causing a big problem to our planet in terms of contamination of the soil, air and water. We can take two little steps to solve this big problem: reducing the quantity we consume to adjust it to what we really need, and recycling all that is recyclable.  When I'm working on my pieces, I put the leftovers into a bag, and later, I try to think about ho...

Old things, new beginnings

We started this month with great enthusiasm and creativity. We have finished a new model combining blue jeans, cotton and a touch of pink wool. While making it, I was surprised about how a touch of a bright color can give joy to the dark ones. Such is life! This pink flowers are like a hug, a smile, or maybe music we like to hear. Let's open our hearts to recieve all the gifts that are like  rain to the plants, something good and refreshing. I like sewing quilts with recycled materials because it joins things that were once separated and useless, giving them another sense, creating something new; cutting and discarding what is totally destroyed, letting them go. Look what  a pair of blue jeans and a t-shirt you don't want to use any more can become.  January is the month of hope and new beginnings!
